ACCESSION OF IRAN
Request for accession pursuant to Article XII
The following communication from the Permanent Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been received by the Director-General.

I have the honour to inform you that the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has decided to apply for accession to the World Trade Organization under Article XII of the Marrakesh Agreement.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has, for the last several years, embarked on an extensive programme of reconstruction and development leading to expansion of economic relations and trade with its regional and global partners. The Government is, therefore, prepared at this stage to engage in the procedures that follow this application.
